Pace is the time it takes to cover a unit of distance — typically expressed as minutes per kilometer or minutes per mile. It is the most common way runners measure and compare their performance.
Pace = Time ÷ Distance. Speed = Distance ÷ Time. Distance = Speed × Time. If you know any two values, the calculator computes the third automatically.
Popular distances include 5K, 10K, half marathon (21.1 km), and full marathon (42.2 km). Training at varied paces — easy runs, tempo runs, and intervals — improves overall race pace over time.
Even splits means maintaining a consistent pace throughout. Negative splits means running the second half faster — a strategy associated with stronger race performances.
